Response to a Frequently Asked Employment Question

How can I improve my chances for employment as a professional employee?

  • Add new certifications to your certificate. This can be done through coursework or taking and passing Praxis tests.
  • Get an advanced degree.
  • Be flexible in accepting assignments as a substitute. For example: as an elementary substitute work in the high school.
  • Keep current with new technology.
  • Always look for opportunities to learn. For example: during a free period arrange to visit an experienced teacher's classroom or practice using new technologies.
  • Earn Act 48 credits by attending workshops or in-service programs.
  • Most important be an exemplary substitute. Follow lesson plans, complete paper work, know and follow rules and procedures, maintain a positive learning environment and respect and help all of our students achieve.

Positions are accepted at the Administration Building from March - May each year.
   
 

ACT 34 / 151 / 114 Clearances
Anyone wishing to work / volunteer for the Penn-Trafford School District must have current Act 34, 151 and 114 clearances. These clearances may take as long as 6-8 weeks to process, so you are encouraged to apply for the clearances as soon as you decide to apply for a position or wish to volunteer within the district.
