Please mark your calendars. Students will be dismissed as indicated below.
Early Dismissal Times
When the school district schedules an early dismissal day, students will be dismissed as follows: High School (12:25 pm) - Middle School (1:00 pm) - Elementary (1:35 pm)
Report Cards
Elementary - November 9 Middle Schools - November 9 High School - November 9
Eastern Standard Time
The Penn-Trafford School District will revert to Eastern Standard Time effective Sunday, November 1st. There will be no change in our daily schedule. All buses and school schedules will be operating on Eastern Standard Time as of that date.
Schools Closed
All schools will be CLOSED for students on Tuesday, November 3rd. This is a teacher in-service day. Elementary teachers will hold parent - teacher conferences.
Recreational Swim
The Recreational Swim Program will operate this year on Mondays and Friday as for several weeks. Monday swim dates and times began on October 5 and continue for 8 weeks until November 23, 2009. The Monday swim hours are from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm. Friday swim dates begin October 23 and continues through December 18, 2009 from 8:00 pm until 9:30 pm. The pool will be closed on November 27. The cost for the recreational swim is $3/adult per night and @2/child per night for district residents. The fee for non-residents is $4/adult per night and $3/child per night.

Announcements will be made by 6:30 am. We suggest that you tune in each morning that school is in session.
Atomic Learning
Parents wishing to access our online technology resource called atomic learning can do so by going to: www.atomiclearning.com and entering the username ptparent and password parent.

Take Home Tuesday
The district elementary schools will continues to send messages and materials home with students on Tuesdays. This allows parents to anticipate receiving these materials and helps us to communicate throughout the school district.
H1N1 Flu Website
A new website for the H1N1 flu is located at: www.H1N1inPA.com. In addition, a letter to parents from the Department of Education is at the bottom of this page. The letter outlines the procedures for protecting yourself from this virus.
Trick or Treat
The communities in our school district will conduct "Trick or Treat" as follows:
Saturday, October 31
Trafford Boro (6-8 pm)
Penn Township (6-8 pm)
Manor Borough (6-8 pm)
Penn Borough (6-8 pm)
Safety Tip
Wearing a piece of reflective or light colored clothing can help drivers to see children who are waiting for buses and walking along district roads. Please encourage your youngsters to be especially careful if they are participating in "Trick or Treat" activities.

Top 10 Tips for Preventing the Spread of Flu
- Keep your child home from school or day care when he or she is sick.
- Allow your child to return to school only when fever-free for at least 24 hours (no longer having a fever without use of fever-reducing medicines).
- Cover your cough. Cough into your upper sleeve or into a tissue and discard properly
- Properly dispose of used tissues and other soiled items, and wash your hands after doing so.
- Wash hands frequently and regularly, or use hand sanitizers when water is not readily available.
- Regularly clean and disinfect areas and items likely to have frequent hand contact.
- Contact your health care provider when your child or other family member is sick with the flu (symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, headache and body aches).
- If you are not able to stay home with your child, plan ahead for how he or she will be taken care of when sick at home or if school is closed.
- Have your child vaccinated against the flu every year.
- Stay informed through www.health.state.pa.us, www.cdc.gov, or www.flu.gov
