OUR MISSION: "Effective, efficient, quality education"

Principal's Message

The Penn-Trafford School District consists of five (5) elementary schools located throughout the district: Harrison Park Elementary, Level Green Elementary, McCullough Elementary, Sunrise Elementary, and Trafford Elementary School.  The five elementary schools serve approximately 2,000 students in grades Kindergarten through Grade Five. The Kindergarten classes are half-days of school for the youngsters, consisting of an AM class and a PM class.

The elementary school curriculum consists of Reading, Writing, Language Arts (Spelling, Grammar, and Process Writing), Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Health, Music, Art, Library Skills, and Physical Education. Other programs that all elementary buildings offer include: Title One Reading program, Accelerated Reader program, PTO/PTA organizations, Library book exchange time for all students, Library Skills class for students in grades four and five, evening Math Lab sessions for additional math instruction, daily breakfast program, lunch, and recess.

Instructional strategies employed by the elementary teachers are those that conform and support what research and our own experiences have shown to be best for the students and their learning. The underlying goal of the elementary program is to: provide students with a strong educational foundation with the curriculum objectives, stimulate student creativity, promote exploration, expand student interest, and to ultimately prepare students for the transition to middle school.
