Kindergarten Transition into Penn-Trafford School District!
We would like to potentially welcome your child into Kindergarten for the 2017-2018 school year. Entering Kindergarten is an exciting time for both you and your child! Our District plans some FUN activities and events that will assist you and your child in the transition to Kindergarten.
With your registration, you will “book” your child a trip on the PT Transition Train! You will receive a magnet that reminds you to “Hop Aboard” the various transition activities the district offers, along with listing the dates of these important events:
Registration (via phone @ your home school): Please call your home school to register your child. Registration takes place January 23-27, 2017 and February 20-24, 2017. Here are the school phone numbers and persons of contact. The secretary at each building will take your information right over the phone!

First Stop: Kindergarten Kick Off Night on April 11th, 2017. This event takes place in each individual elementary school in the evening. More detailed information is mailed in March. Students attend this evening! Parents sign up for a screening time with the Principals, receive a 2017-18 school calendar, and visit booths from local organizations where they can meet school support staff, local community organizations, and PTO representatives. Your child will be able to meet the school Kindergarten teachers and receive a backpack with supplies. The evening will conclude with a ride on a school bus!
Second Stop: Kindergarten Screening, May 15th or 16th, 2017. A member of our Kindergarten staff will give your child the district Kindergarten Screening Assessment. The teacher will discuss the results with you. You will also be able to meet with the school nurse to turn in your health forms and discuss your child’s health needs for the school year.
Third Stop: Kindergarten Open House, an evening in August near the first day of school. You will accompany your child to school for a visit and orientation with your child’s Kindergarten teacher.
We look forward to helping you and your child with a very positive transition experience! Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact our staff at your home elementary school.
