Art Club Sends Portraits to India (6-1-21)

Members of Penn-Trafford High School’s Art Club took on a very special project to cap off the 2020-2021 school year.  Teacher Brenda Christeleit learned of a ‘Memory Project’ program, which she introduced to her students.  The project enlists advanced art students to create heartfelt portraits as special gifts for children around the world who have faced war, violence, poverty, neglect, family loss, or other challenges.  The PT group received digital images of five orphans in India and spent a month working on recreating the children’s faces in a variety of media: Digital, watercolor, and oil pastel

The PT students participating in the project were Cody Blank, Eva Lichty, Jordan Baughman, Katie Jubec, and Kate Malley.

Mrs. Christeleit shipped the portraits to India on May 28 (the last day of school). This project was a great way for Art Club members (both in-person and 100% online) to use their talents to enrich the lives of their peers a world away through art.
