Trafford Elementary School kicked off the school year with kindness, which is the school’s celebrated character trait for the month of September.
Mrs. Jenny Winter, the school’s library aide, is encouraging kindness during students’ library time. After each class’s storytime, Mrs. Winter encourages students to perform a specific act of kindness. Kindness acts have included holding a door for someone, telling a family member that you love them, and giving someone a compliment. Mrs. Winter is also creating a Kindness Rock Garden at the entrance of the school. Students are able to paint a rock during their library period to add to the garden. The garden, with its colorful rocks and inspiring messages, is meant to uplift the spirits of students and staff as they enter the school each day.
During the week of September 20, the school held a Kindness Spirit Week with special messages and themed-dress days.
