PT Receives NSPA Nomination

Three students in last year’s Video Production class at Penn-Trafford High School earned one of five finalist spots for the 2021 National Student Production Awards from the Foundation of The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS).  This is PTTV’s second national nomination. Nominees were selected from over 2,000 high school student entries across the country in 25 programming and craft categories. Entries were judged by selected industry professionals and media academics. The winning entry will be announced in February.

In the category of Commercial, Penn-Trafford graduates Khristian Miller, Austin Varner, and Cody Sepe (from the Class of 2021) were nominated for their commercial for Seven Springs Mountain Resort.

The former students were able to record their commercial with three GoPro cameras, iPhone’s and a DJI Drone. Substitute teacher, Mr. Bujakowski, who taught the class last school year said, “Khristian, Austin, and Cody really challenged themselves by going on location, recording on the slopes, and flying the drone in really high wind situations”.  Miller, Varner, and Sepe were the winners of the commercial category at the Mid-Atlantic Regional level, which qualified them to be in the national running. Bujakowski continued, “This crew was able to put this commercial together during remote classes, abbreviated schedules, and abnormally tight timing windows. I am truly proud of their achievements, it’s a testament to their professionalism and their talent as video producers”.
