Middle School Students Create Scarecrow Sculptures

Students from Penn and Trafford Middle Schools’ Spectrum/gifted program participated in an art competition on November 17.  Students from Yough School District, Latrobe School District, New-Ken Arnold School District, and Kiski School District also attended the event, which was held at Trafford Middle School.

Each student created a sculpture to fit the theme of North American Scarecrow.

Sculptures needed to meet the following criteria: contain three symbols that represent a particular North American place (such as a flag, state animal, or something to represent the culture), include at least three materials, be self-supporting, and be between 18 and 24 inches tall.

Students from Yough School District, Latrobe School District, New-Ken Arnold School District, and Kiski School District also attended.

During the judging, students participated in a canvas painting led by art teacher Mrs. Stacy Lamanna.
