Mrs. Meghan Coleman, a second-grade teacher at McCullough Elementary School raised over $600 in DonorsChoose grant funds to invest in classroom supplies. The grant enabled her to add a large area rug and comfortable floor cushions which will be used for small group reading. She also acquired a classroom set of whisper phones which enable students to listen to themselves read, increasing confidence and comprehension.
“Reading is a huge focus within our classroom every day,” said Coleman. “Whether the students are reading a book with a friend, listening to a story read by a teacher, or reading independently, we want them to become involved in the story and enjoy every moment of it!”
