Students Enjoy Nature STEAM Camp

Twenty-three students in grades 3-6 participated in Penn-Trafford School District’s Summer Nature Adventure STEAM Camp during the week of June 20th.  Teachers Michelle Stewart and Somer Green designed the camp as a fun way for students to connect with nature and learn the importance of being environmentally conscientious.

Campers spent the week exploring the environment around Trafford Middle School and learning about ecology through various hands-on activities.  Among the many projects, they created terrariums, hydro-planters, and bird feeders.  They collected materials for ‘nature slime’ and clay prints during a scavenger hunt around school grounds.  During one day, the campers traveled to nearby BY Park to go for a hike and collect materials to create ‘nature creatures’.  Additional activities added to the fun and exploration of the environment around them.
