Sculpture Contest Showcases Creativity

On December 13th, students from the Westmoreland County Gifted Coalition gathered at Trafford Middle School for an annual sculpture competition. The theme for this year was European Nesting Sculptures. Students were assigned a country to research and then they created 3-5 sculptures, each accompanied by a short essay describing the country and the sculpture.

Penn-Trafford teacher, Dr. Lynn Eckberg, organized the event and was very pleased with her students’ performances.  Caitlin Dolhi (Penn Middle) took second place and Delaney Race (Trafford Middle) placed third in the individual awards.

Group winners were (from Penn Middle) Riley Joyce and Sydney Mularski (2nd), Sam Nied and Drew Hauck (3rd tie), and Madi Gavrish and Sammy Seech (3rd tie).   Elena Southern and Ellasyn Tautkus-Berry from Trafford Middle placed 4th.
