In a recent ‘catapult and trebuchet competition’ hosted by Yough High School, the Penn-Trafford High School team of Dan Bracken, Eli Emahizer and Gregory Maynard won first place for the longest distance trebuchet. Nearby school districts including Burrell, Yough and Franklin Regional also participated at the event.
The Penn-Trafford trebuchet launched a ball 52 yards to claim the title. Students from other schools began modeling their designs similar to Penn-Trafford’s build for next year's competition. "I'm very pleased," states teacher Mrs. Wukich. "My students are already challenging themselves for next year and discussing ideas for an improved design."
