At McCullough Elementary School, first-grade students in Mrs. Rocca’s Reading Club participated in a spring-themed literacy activity.
The activity was centered around the book Whose Egg? by Lynette Evans, which encourages readers to use clues to predict what might hatch from different types of eggs. After reading the story, students were each given a plastic egg to take home, along with instructions to place a mystery object inside and write three clues describing its contents.
The following day, students brought their eggs back to school and shared their clues with classmates, who then attempted to guess what was hidden inside. The activity aimed to reinforce reading comprehension, critical thinking, and descriptive writing skills in a fun, engaging way.
