Media Literacy Interns Host First Annual Powder Puff Game

The Media Literacy Interns of Penn-Trafford High School hosted their first annual Powder Puff flag football game, an event that blended competition with a meaningful cause. On Friday, April 25th, the games brought excitement, school spirit, and a sense of community to the field. Students, staff, and families filled the stands to cheer on the girls and to support a great cause.

The interns planned the event from beginning to end, including advertising, communication, uniforms, and fundraising.

Each Powder Puff team was coached by members of the High School football team, who were responsible for managing practices before the event, creating plays, and supporting their teams during the game.

Despite rain and a lightning delay, the games still went on.  The sophomore team triumphed over the freshmen 20-0, while the seniors edged out the juniors in a close 20-14 matchup.

The Powder Puff game raised $1,400 for Beverly’s Birthdays, a nonprofit organization that provides birthday cheer for children experiencing homelessness and families in need. It was a powerful display of school spirit, student initiative, and the strength of a community coming together for a good cause.
