Students Have Fun with Flight

At Trafford Elementary School, second-graders in Mrs. Weismann’s classroom recently participated in a STEAM activity called “Fun With Flight.” The lesson was supported by a grant from the Penn-Trafford Community Education Foundation, which provided the necessary supplies.

Working in groups, students built a rocket launcher and designed flying rockets to explore concepts such as flight, thrust, and air resistance. Students also created kites and had the chance to run outside to watch them fly. The hands-on activities encouraged collaboration while helping students better understand basic principles of science and engineering.
