Penn-Trafford Launches PT Teamworks Program

Penn-Trafford School District has launched a new initiative called ‘PT Teamworks,’ a program designed to connect the district’s athletic teams and extracurricular clubs with meaningful service opportunities in the community.

The program kicked off on Saturday, September 13, 2025, when the boys’ and girls’ basketball teams partnered with Community Church for an afternoon of volunteer work. Boys’ coach Mr. Doug Kelly and girls’ coach Mr. Chuck Fontana joined their players to complete several painting projects at the church.

The experience not only supported the community but also gave the student-athletes a chance to grow together outside of the gym. “This was a great way for our teams to give back to the community that supports us,” said Coach Kelly. “At the same time, it allowed the players to build teamwork and leadership skills off the court.”

PT Teamworks will continue throughout the school year, with different teams and clubs participating in a variety of service projects. The initiative highlights Penn-Trafford’s commitment to developing well-rounded students who value service, leadership, and community pride.  Local organizations in need of volunteers for upcoming projects/events may contact PT Teamworks via Colleen Kelly ([email protected]) or 724-744-4496.
