Students from Penn-Trafford High School, Penn Middle School, Jeannette High School, and Gateway High School recently participated in two Merry Tuba Christmas performances. The first was at Indiana University of Pennsylvania under Dr. Zach Collins, and the second was at the University of Akron, led by Dr. Chris Blaha and Professor Emeritus Tucker Jolly, featuring 618 musicians.
The combined performances drew over 5,500 audience members and celebrated the holiday season through the unique sounds of tubas, euphoniums, and baritones. Founded in 1974, Merry Tuba Christmas honors both the holidays and the legacy of low brass music worldwide.
