Harrison Park Elementary School Hosts Second Annual Education Fair

Harrison Park Elementary School held its second annual Education Fair on Friday, February 20, showcasing work from students in kindergarten through fifth grade.

More than 300 students submitted projects in subjects including Science, Art, History, Technology, and Math. Students worked both in school and at home researching topics and preparing displays, which were presented during an evening event for families and staff.

Principal Mr. Marasti selected six overall award winners:

  • Ivalina Lemmon (Kindergarten) – “Walking Rainbow,” showing how colored water moves through paper towels and mixes to form new colors.

  • Harper Schneider (Grade 2) – “Parts of a Plant,” explaining how plant parts help plants grow.

  • Aubrey Saunders (Grade 2) – “Lawn Grass Variations,” comparing how different grasses grow under various conditions.

  • Jackson Saunders (Grade 4) – “Wind Turbine,” demonstrating how wind energy can generate electricity.

  • Parker Finnegan (Grade 4) – “Water Filtration Systems,” testing methods for cleaning water using household materials.

  • Jackson Lewis (Grade 5) – “Climbing Pittsburgh,” exploring the science behind the Duquesne Incline.

The event also included a school-wide spelling bee with more than 40 participants, which was led by Mr. Noah Brundrett.  Winners by grade were Eli Musto (K), Jackson Rodgers (1), Nicholas Shannon (2), Landon Roberts (3), Bennett Berkoben (4), and Cohen Glass (5).
