Esports Team Captures First State Championship

The Penn-Trafford High School Warrior Esports team made school history by winning the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Esports Association (PIEA) Division 1 Rocket League State Championship, held at Mount Aloysius College in late May.

The Warriors defeated Canon-McMillan High School 4-1 in the championship match to earn the program's first-ever state title. The championship team included Johnny Lovas, Colton Payne, and Kristian Grills.

Led by High School teacher John Carlisle, the Warrior Esports program has emerged as one of Pennsylvania's top scholastic esports organizations.

"This championship is the result of countless hours of practice, teamwork, communication, and dedication from our students," Carlisle said. "Bringing home the first state title in program history is an incredible achievement for these students and our entire school community."
